We are sarAika movement collective, a dance company, and LIVABALL, a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) consultant. Our directors, Sara Pizzi and Aika Takeshima, identify as immigrants, women, people of color, and queer. As representatives of these communities, we aim to empower and support them during Pride Month by showcasing our professional talents during the march.

In 2022 and 2023, we participated in the march to celebrate the community’s lives and resilience. We are excited to carry forward our determination and performance into the 2024 season. In 2023, a total of 35 dancers, 20 musicians, one drag performer, and 10 volunteers performed. We’ll showcase a marching dance and live music performance by professional dancers and musicians. We will be a group of 50-70 people in total.

Last year, 34 dancers, 12 musicians, 2 drag performers, and 8 more people joined the PRIDE MARCH with us!

Any instrument is good if you can play while walking around 1.5 miles.

*No access to electricity. Percussions, horns, instruments loud enough without electricity are highly recommended.

All musical skill levels are welcome.

All that is required is openness and support of Pride.

MORE ABOUT US AND THIS PROJECT:

LIVABALL is a DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) consultant who aims to make society more livable, funded by Aika Takeshima, who is also the co-founder of sarAika movement collective with Sara Pizzi. We strongly believe in the power of art and collaboration. Our aim is to showcase how embracing diversity and working together can lead to a brighter and more inclusive future. We believe that by bringing together people from different backgrounds and showcasing “many differences all together doing great things with a lot of fun,” we can effectively deliver the message that diversity is a strength.
Therefore, LIVABALL and sarAika movement collective are joining forces to participate in the NYC PRIDE PARADE. Our group comprises professional dancers and musicians from diverse artistic backgrounds, and we are dedicated to promoting an open and inclusive cause. We strongly believe that art has the power to bring about positive change in our society, and we want to use our skills and talents to make a meaningful contribution. Please note that we will not be providing any monetary compensation for your participation, but we assure you that it will be a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with the community and create art for the people.

Our aim is to showcase the importance of embracing diversity and intersectionality through artistic collaboration. The NYC Pride March presents the perfect opportunity to celebrate our differences and highlight the triumphs of a bright and inclusive future.

Thank you so much for your attention and for reading our message. We hope you can join us!
